THE STORY BEHIND SEPTEMBER FLOWERS

September Flowers opened its doors back in December 2015, with the aim to bring luxury bouquets at affordable prices to the people of Hertfordshire. Founded by floral designer Kenia Hatfield, who has 8 years floristry experience and a lifetime of passion.

Kenia grew up in the beautiful Dominican Republic before planting her roots in Hertfordshire. As a little girl, Kenia feel in love with flowers and tropical stems and dreamed of owning her own flower shop. Following her passion for design and gaining experience in the floristry industry, Kenia began running her own flower business from home. Selling mainly to friends and family, the word about Kenia’s floral creations, luxury style and friendly service quickly bloomed. The opportunity to open her very own florist shop in her local town of Royston came along, and Kenia jumped at the chance.

Wanting to brand the new shop with a personal but unusual name, Kenia settled on September Flowers – the month both her sons were born. After carefully renovating the shop in Jepps Courtyard, just off Market Hill, Kenia officially opened September Flowers on 4th December 2015. Offering a wide range of luxury flowers, bespoke bouquets, potted plants, seasonal gifts and cards – all carefully chosen or designed by Kenia and her talented team.

But it doesn’t stop there! After opening the flower shop, Kenia noticed that her local customers really wanted a space to really discover and enjoy flowers. In Summer 2018 she expanded September Flowers to add an Artisan Coffee Bar which sells a selection of hot drinks, home baked cakes and yummy treats. The perfect place to relax in a friendly environment, watch the artful skill of hand-tied bouquet making and enjoy a break from everyday life.

September Flowers also offers a range of flower services for local customers such as same day flower delivery, bespoke Wedding and Event flowers and beautiful house plants. Throughout the year Kenia runs regular seasonal Workshops, held in the shop or at local venues in Royston. Popular with the green fingered community, Workshops often sell out months in advance! Kenia loves the opportunity to interact with her customers at Workshops and share some of her flower knowledge and techniques for people to take away and try at home.
